Plants in the Taiga
Not many plants can handle the cold of the taiga, so the plant genre is narrowed mainly down to trees. There are many kinds of trees in taiga forests and most of them you probably have never even heard of!

The black spruce is another tree in the taiga forest and can grow up 25 meters, or 75 feet, tall.

The Douglas fir is another type of tree and can be very big. It can grow 40 to 60 feet tall and 15 to 25 feet wide.

The Eastern Red Cedar is a fourth type of tree and is a bit shorter. It grows 10 to 50 feet tall and is in the shape of a pyramid.

A paper birch tree is another type of tree and can grow 60 to 80 feet tall and was used by Indians for various tasks.

The Siberian spruce is a very tall tree, it can grow up to 30 meters or 90 feet tall. It can also grow up to 15 meters in diameter.

An eighth type of tree is the white fir. It is the tallest of these bunch, ranging from 60 to 100 feet tall. It can live to 300 years old.

Another tree is the white poplar. It does not live as long as other trees. It is soft, light, and very weak.

The last type of tree is white spruce. It has four sided needles that are 2.5 centimeters long.
